Profession
Engineering is a prestigious profession that has made significant contributions to society. The practice of professional engineering is a public trust, earned through educational preparation, experience and commitment on the part of the professional engineer to public service. Professional engineers (P. Eng.) carry out that trust in accordance with a code of professional ethics and conduct a series of legal requirements, including the Professional Practice Exams (PPE), which ensure they operate at the highest standards, always in the best interests of society.
Career
Engineers enjoy a wide variety of lifestyles and careers. Because of the breadth of society and the unlimited imaginations of people, engineers can be found in every line of work and in any location around the world. Medicine, sports, communications, research, production, environment, education, natural resources, law, computers, architecture, entertainment and business are some career areas where engineers make significant contributions.
